So its been a while..
I just finished my first semester at Berkeley last week and.. it’s helped me learn a lot about myself. Aside from many faults that I want to address in the near future, it’s taught me a great deal of appreciation. I wasn’t able to meet my expectations grades-wise (completely my fault), but I was able to get a good feel for my new environment what’s to come in my next one and a half years in Norcal (hopefully not more than that). With the exception of some brilliant minds, the majority of students at Cal are like me, normal. Unlike everything I have learned at school thus far, your grade at Berkeley really comes down to how hard you are willing to work, NOT how smart you are. So next semester, I plan to work much more than this past one, and hopefully end up proving myself right.
This winter break will be an eventful one for me, I barely have time to catch up on sleep, which was perhaps my most “looked-forward” thing to do during the semester. I just came back from a trip to Vegas and the Grand Canyon with Eric, Kevin, Kelvin, Josh, and Christina. All and all, I had fun, but it wasn’t nearly as relaxing as it was last time. It was my first time seeing the Grand Canyon, but hopefully not the best. I think the crowd and chilling weather dampened my time there. The view is magnificent, but I think it’s a place for a more intimate experience, the rush and sheer number of people made it just a normal one for me this time.
Now it is Christmas weekend and I am spending it with my parents, I wouldn’t have it any other way. It gives me a chance to relax and reflect before the new year. Next year will be my 21st year, and I plan to start my new decade with good vibes, great company, and remarkable memories. What better way to start it than going back to Taiwan with family and friends? I’ll be 15 hours ahead after Christmas, but I hope everyone has a spectacular holiday season!
